Our Philosophy and Goals
The underlying philosophy of Little Athletics is one of "family, fun and fitness". Our Centre's goals include ensuring our athletes and their families enjoy the participation and friendships at the Centre, developing and improving the skills and performances of all our athletes, supporting our athletes who compete at higher levels and providing all our athletes with a safe environment and well-maintained equipment and facilities. Athletes are able to learn and develop at their own pace and in some events they will compete with others of a similar ability. Each event is modified to suit the age of our competitors. All athletes participate in the Centre's merit awards and achievement programs, gaining Merit Badges and Achievement Awards during the season and participation awards at the end of the season.
Range of Activities
Little Athletics extends beyond our regular weekly Saturday morning competition at Bannockburn Oval. Our athletes have the opportunity to participate in: Gala Days and special events throughout NSW. The bi-annual Trans Tasman Tour with New Zealand for Under 11 and 12 athletes. NSW senior athletics competitions for Under 13, 14, and 15 athletes who are automatically dual-registered with the senior body, Athletics NSW. A range of Championships for individuals (Zone, Region, State and National), teams (State Relays), and all-round athletes (State Multi Event and National). Our Teen Athletics meetings (for athletes aged 13-19 years) on Friday evenings.
